Hotel Arts are performing a little makeover.
No, they aren’t pulling out the paintbrushes (although, that doesn’t seem like an unusual thing in a place with “arts” in the title). Instead, the designer boutique-style hotel has brought in some new pieces for their guest rooms: liquid dispensers. It is an innovative idea that aligns perfectly with Hotel Arts’ promotion of wellness and environmentally-friendly practices.

They have done away with the wasteful little bottles that you would usually see shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion come in and have installed simple but tasteful dispensers. This will eliminate at least 5000 individual plastic bottles per month from going to waste. The dispensers are very user friendly, which was a priority for the hotel when they were looking into making the change, and are large enough to cover multiple stays.
“This is our first experience with the dispensers as a hotel, but we are anticipating they will last a week or two,” says Katie Mayer, the Marketing and Media Relations Manager for the Hotel Arts Group.
The other part of this makeover is the product going into the aforementioned dispensers. Hotel Arts is the first hotel in Canada to feature skoah® products. The Vancouver-based skin care product company is excited to be a partner, as both are boutique brands offering customers a personalized experience.
“Hotel Arts is really aligned with some of the values we hold as a company, including providing interesting and unexpected touches,” says Andrea Scott, owner of skoah®.
The guest rooms feature invigor-mint shampoo and conditioner, and pep talk body wash and lotion. The products featuring a refreshing peppermint-like is a personal favorite of Werna Maurer, Director of Rooms at Hotel Arts, and sure to appeal to a majority of the guests.
The dispensers launched a few weeks ago and early reviews show the guests are loving the products. Just this past week, the hotel started selling all 4 products featured in the rooms, as well as an SPF 30 body lotion, and that is already showing success.
“We have had rave reviews since the moment we installed [the dispensers]”, says Mayer, “If they haven’t heard of skoah®, they want to know where to buy it, and if they have, they reiterate how much their love the brand.”
Hotel Arts is located on 12th Ave SW in downtown Calgary. It features a number of unique amenities for both guests and the public, including restaurants and poolside yoga to enjoy this summer.
